This is Ronald Reagan's fault. When Libya conspired with and harbored the bombers of Pan Am flight 103 he should have invaded instead of sending a few bombers in to attack Gaddafi. A demonstration of strength would have prevented many of the terrorists attacks we experienced since that 1988 bombing and taken one madman off the scene. Besides, we already had the music written (From the halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli). People think that bullies pick on the weak. This is only partially true. Bullies want a reputation for picking on the strong. This keeps the weak in line. This is why Gaddafi, Saddam and Bin Laden risk death and destruction to attack us. It has nothing to do with our international policies. It has to do only with their need for a reputation of standing up to the big guys.
